Ready to run background checks the modern way?
Through Checkr.org, Checkr’s corporate foundation, we are dedicated to building stronger, fairer, and safer communities. Our commitment to fostering stronger communities is embodied in our dual focus on fairness and safety. By supporting organizations that align with these priorities, we aim to drive transformative change and make a lasting impact.
Focus on fairness and safety
In 2025, we expanded our impact beyond fair chance hiring to areas promoting fairness and safety. Fairness involves providing justice-impacted individuals with economic opportunities, while safety focuses on protecting individuals and communities from harm. Together, these efforts help build stronger, more resilient communities.
Introducing our 2025 grantees
This year, we awarded grants to six nonprofits working tirelessly in the fairness and safety sectors. Each organization was chosen for its innovative approach and alignment with our mission.
Safety grantees
Focused on reducing and preventing scams in the US, Stop Scams Alliance uses public-private partnerships to document fraud and promote data sharing. Their initiatives directly support our objective to prevent fraud and collaborate with other corporate entities to help stop this issue at the source.
Founded and led by a former FBI agent, NEFCC fights elder fraud by aggregating and analyzing data to identify large fraud schemes. Their collaboration with major corporate entities like Walmart and Amazon positions them as leaders in combating digital fraud, making them a perfect fit for our priorities in preventing exploitation.
Thorn develops AI technology used by law enforcement and tech companies to remove online child abuse material and threats. Their tech-driven approach aligns with our mission to protect vulnerable online populations, and our commitment to technological solutions for safety.
Fairness grantees
Televerde Foundation offers workforce development for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women, featuring career training and certifications. They have an impressive track record in employment and success of their participants: low recidivism, living wages, and reunification with families.
As the first AmeriCorps program for justice-impacted young adults, Impact Justice offers a paid service year with mentorship and skills development. Their dual-impact model mentoring youth extends our investment, amplifying the reach and efficacy of fair chance initiatives.
Serving justice-impacted youth and their families, New Earth provides integrated education and career training. Their comprehensive program helps youth develop skills for the future, resonating with our dedication to justice-focused economic empowerment.
Our continued commitment to building strong communities
We are proud to support these outstanding organizations as part of our ongoing efforts to drive meaningful change. By investing strategically in fairness and safety, we believe we can create economic mobility for justice-impacted individuals, and create safer environments where both individuals and communities thrive.
