A Checkr Profile is a portable, verified identity that belongs to you. You build it once, own it, and share it with potential employers, landlords, clients, really with anyone who needs to trust you.
What we’re seeing is people meeting, transacting, and trusting each other, online and off, in ways that didn't exist a decade ago. Professionals move between roles, platforms, and geographies faster than ever. Families hire caregivers they’ve only just met. Freelancers land clients across different marketplaces. A single job-seeker might apply to fifty roles. Each of these transactions is an opportunity to build trust, and increasingly, an opportunity to lose it.
AI has made impersonation and fraud cheaper and faster than most people realize. Synthetic identities. AI-generated resumes. Deepfake interviews. We’ve seen all of these in our own recruiting pipelines at Checkr, by the way. The tools to pretend to be someone else have never been more accessible. That’s pushing us to build personal verification that’s easy to complete and easy to understand.
The ability to prove who you are (and prove what you can bring) simply has not kept pace with how we live and work. Checkr Profiles represent our effort to change that.
How it works
- Verify your identity with your ID and a selfie.
- Add credentials like work history, education, and professional licenses through Checkr. At this point, you have a portable, verified Profile that you customize and control.
- Share it with whoever needs to trust you: a client, an employer, a landlord, a marketplace, even a date.

Profile partnerships
The value to individual users is clear, but I’m also excited about how that value extends to the platforms they already use. Marketplaces can embed Checkr Profiles directly, with a Checkr Verified badge that gives every participant a visible layer of trust. Not only is this free for the individual, it strengthens network effects for the platforms that embed it.
GigSmart, a workforce technology platform, is a great example. They made Checkr Profiles the entry point for every flex worker on their platform, and, in their own words, it has raised the bar on both sides of their two-sided marketplace. That's a pattern we expect to see repeated across the platforms that power modern work.
