Checkr keeps improving where it counts most: accuracy, driving records, verifications, identity, and the platform you use every day. Here’s what shipped in the first half of 2026, and what it means for how you hire.

Key takeaways

  • Accuracy: Deeper, more complete criminal record data
  • MVR: Full national coverage in Canada and new FMCSA data for drivers
  • Verifications: Faster, cheaper employment checks
  • Identity: Verification, now for every customer
  • Platform: Integrations that fit into the tools you already use

Two updates pushed Checkr’s criminal record coverage to new highs this half.

NatCrim coverage hits an all-time high

What’s new: NatCrim, Checkr’s national criminal database, reached all-time highs for both reportable and felony record coverage. Felony coverage reached 76.5% by May 2026, up 8% in six months.

How you benefit: Every point of NatCrim coverage improvement means a more complete, more accurate picture of your candidates each month, with no change to how you order a search.

Best for: Employers in regulated or safety-sensitive industries who depend on maximum criminal record coverage for confident adjudication decisions.

DOC release dates now available in 25 states

What’s new: Department of Corrections (DOC) release dates are now available in 25 states, up from 19 before.

How you benefit: Release dates help you assess how recently someone was incarcerated, a meaningful factor in an individual assessment based on EEOC guidelines. You get richer data for most US states without changing how you order a criminal search.

Best for: Adjudication teams weighing the recency of incarceration in an individual assessment.

Checkr reimagines driving records across North America

Two updates have modernized how you screen drivers across the US and Canada.

Canada MVR now delivers full national coverage in minutes

What’s new: Checkr launched a fully standardized MVR platform for Canada—Driver Abstract for detailed driving history and driver’s license verification (DLV) to confirm a license is valid—with national coverage across every Canadian province and integration with Assess.

How you benefit: Turnaround time (TAT) in Ontario and Alberta dropped from days to minutes; every other province dropped from weeks to days. If you hire across the US and Canada, you now get one unified screening workflow with automated adjudication built in, and Checkr is the only provider offering full national coverage with Assess integration.

Best for: Enterprise and cross-border employers hiring drivers in both the US and Canada.

Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) adds 5 years of FMCSA crash history to a single order

What’s new: PSP is now available as a standalone add-on you can order alongside MVR and other driver checks from the Checkr Dashboard or API. It delivers five years of FMCSA crash history and three years of roadside inspection history instantly, for a $5 service fee plus a $10 FMCSA passthrough fee.

How you benefit: You can now see FMCSA crash and inspection data, including violations that never appear on a standard MVR, directly inside Checkr, protecting your CSA score and reducing audit risk without a separate vendor portal.

Best for: Transportation and logistics teams hiring commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers.

Identity verification is now available to every customer

What’s new: Checkr launched identity verification as a generally available product: document verification (driver’s license or passport), selfie-based biometric matching with liveness detection, and device and location signals built into the candidate’s apply flow. It’s now also available self-serve, directly from the Checkr Dashboard, no support ticket required, including an IDV Pause that lets you review photos yourself instead of an automatic cancellation.

How you benefit: You can catch impersonation, modified IDs, and synthetic identities before a background check even runs, a layer of protection standard credential checks can’t provide on their own. With self-serve availability, any Checkr customer, not just enterprise accounts, can add it to a package today.

Best for: Any employer concerned about deepfakes, synthetic identities, or candidates using someone else’s credentials, especially for remote roles.

We also opened early access to SSN fraud detection. This dedicated signal flags suspicious Social Security number activity before a background check begins, built for gig and high-volume platforms managing fraud risk at scale.

New integrations fit right into the tools you already use

New ADP Integrations

What’s new: Checkr now lives directly in the ADP pre-employment stage for both ADP Workforce Now and ADP Next Generation. Candidate data flows automatically from ADP to Checkr, results surface back in ADP, and authentication runs through ADP's single sign-on. No statement of work is required.

Checkr also connects to ADP Recruiting Management for enterprise customers running RM as their ATS, with checks triggered automatically as candidates move through the hiring workflow. This integration is set up through your ADP consultant.

How you benefit: If you're one of ADP's 80,000-plus mid-market customers, your hiring team never has to leave ADP to order a background check. Enterprise customers on RM get the same automatic trigger without any manual ordering.

Best for: ADP Workforce Now and ADP Next Generation customers hiring at scale, and enterprise or national accounts running ADP Recruiting Management.

New Paychex and Intuit Integrations

Checkr also launched in the Paychex marketplace, as a standalone option and built directly into Paychex Flex Hiring, giving Paychex customers a faster alternative for running checks. And with Intuit's new QuickBooks Workforce platform, you can order checks from a new hire's onboarding, a dedicated dashboard, or directly from an employee profile, all without leaving QuickBooks.

Small changes for a smoother experience

Over the past few months, we released several small but impactful updates to the candidate and self-serve experience that you’ve been asking for. Candidates can now save and resume any application, so they can pick up an in-progress application exactly where they left off instead of starting over. Self-serve customers running a package for a new candidate can now select from a Recently Ordered menu in one tap, instead of repeating the full order flow.

Moving forward, together

Every update above started with the same question: what would make it easier for you to hire with confidence? Thanks for the feedback that shaped this half. Keep it coming, and we’ll keep building.
