What does a personal a background check show?

Checkr offers personal background checks that include the following searches:

  • Social Security number (SSN) trace searches databases, such as from lending institutions, utilities, schools, and credit card companies for a name to provide basic information about a Social Security number such as associated names and addresses.
  • National criminal search searches records from various county and state agencies, to identify potential records for exploration at the county level. These records may include felony and misdemeanor convictions, as well as infractions and violations, at the state and county level. State laws may dictate how far back your criminal history is reported, but generally records show the past seven years.
  • Sex offender registry check reviews registries from all 50 states, Washington DC, and US territories. The results may include the offender’s date of registration and current status.Searches sex offender registries from every US state, the District of Columbia, and tribal territories.
  • Global watchlist search searches multiple domestic and international government and regulatory databases for individuals who are prohibited from certain industries or included on "most wanted" criminal lists.

It does not include credit history, employment history, education history, driving records, or civil records.

How does it work?

  2. Submit your payment.
  3. Checkr searches national databases and local records to create your background check report.
