Last Updated: 27 November 2024
Effective Date: 18 September 2024
Program Descriptions. These Mobile Terms (“Terms”) apply to text messages or calls initiated by or on behalf of Checkr, Inc. (“Checkr”) to the number you provide. To facilitate convenient interaction between you and Checkr, we offer different text message and call programs based on what kind of relationship you have with us (each program, a “Checkr Program”). These Checkr Programs might include communications with you in connection with the following:
- Your use of Checkr’s background screening services as a candidate (“Checkr Screening Program”);
- Your use of Checkr Pay as an earner (“Checkr Pay Program”);
- Marketing communications for the potential or current use of Checkr Pay as an earner (“Checkr Pay Promotional Program”);
- Marketing communications for the current or potential use of Better Futures (“Checkr Better Future Promotional Program”); and
- Your consideration, purchase, or use of Checkr services as a customer (“Checkr Customer Promotional Program”).
Eligibility. To participate in a Checkr Program, you must have an active mobile phone number with a text messaging plan. If you have questions about your mobile device or text messaging plan, please contact your wireless provider.
Enrollment. You may enroll in a Checkr Program the following ways:
Transactional Programs: For Checkr Screening and Checkr Pay Programs, you can enroll in two ways.
- Through Checkr: By providing Checkr with a phone number and opting into our Checkr Program through the Checkr platform.
- Through a Checkr Customer: By providing your phone number to a Checkr customer that will enroll the number in the Checkr Program connected with the relevant Checkr service. If you have questions about this form of enrollment, please contact the Checkr customer to which you provided your number for enrollment.
Promotional Programs:
- Checkr Pay Promotional Program: By providing your phone number to Checkr when activating your Checkr Pay account and opting into our Checkr Pay Promotional Program through the Checkr Pay platform.
- Checkr Better Future Promotional Program: By providing your phone number to Checkr when activating your Better Future account and opting into our Better Future Promotional Program through the Checkr Better Future platform.
- Checkr Customer Promotional Program: By providing your phone number to Checkr and entering into a service agreement with Checkr.
Consent. You can provide consent in the following ways:
- All Checkr Programs. By enrolling in any of our Checkr Programs, you are providing your E-SIGN signature and expressly consent to receiving informational text messages, artificial or prerecorded voice calls, and AI-generative voice calls from or on behalf of Checkr at the number you provided. These text messages might include service updates, alerts, authentications, confirmations, and similar messages. Checkr or those calling on Checkr’s behalf might send you text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system; an automated system for the selection of numbers, dialing of numbers, or both; or other automated technology.
- Promotional Programs. By enrolling in our Checkr Pay Promotional Program, Checkr Better Future Promotional Program, or Customer Program and checking the designated box, you are providing your E-SIGN signature and expressly consent to receiving marketing text messages, artificial or prerecorded voice calls, and AI-generative voice calls from or on behalf of Checkr at the number you provided. These text messages might include the availability of new Checkr services, retention messages, and cashback rewards. Checkr might send text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system; an automated system for the selection of numbers, dialing of numbers, or both; or other automated technology. Your consent to receiving these marketing text messages applies regardless of whether the number you provide is included in any federal or state Do-Not-Call registries. You acknowledge that your consent is not required to obtain Checkr’s services.
Checkr Partners. Checkr might partner with other companies to provide you with certain Checkr products, such as drug and occupational health screenings. As a result, those companies might contact you directly through text messages or artificial, prerecorded, or AI-generative voice calls. Such texts or calls might contain important alerts such as appointment reminders for drug screenings. These companies’ texts and calls are separate from any Checkr Programs, and Checkr does not control the companies’ calling practices. If you have questions about those companies’ use of texts or artificial, prerecorded, or AI-generative voice calls, please contact those companies directly with your questions.
Number Changes. You must not enroll a number in any Checkr Program unless you are authorized to provide consent to receive text messages at that number. If at any given time during your enrollment in a Checkr Program you plan to discontinue using the number you originally provided or no longer have the authority to provide consent for that number, you must immediately unenroll that number from all Checkr Programs as described in these Terms. If you want to continue receiving text messages at your new number, you must enroll your new number.
Cancellation. If you want to cancel your enrollment in a Checkr Program, you can do so at any time in two ways:
- Texting “STOP” in response to the text message you received from that particular Checkr Program; or
- Contact us here.
Once we receive your cancellation request, please allow up to 10 business days for the number you provided to be unsubscribed. During those 10 business days, you might continue receiving marketing text messages from that Checkr Program while we process your request. After that, you will no longer receive text messages from the shortcode or phone number associated with that Checkr Program unless you reactivate your enrollment. If you cancel by texting “STOP,” we will send you a text message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. Your cancellation will not affect your receipt of screening or payment services under Checkr Programs such as the Checkr Screening Program and the Checkr Pay Program. If you cancel your enrollment in such transactional Checkr Programs, we will still email you with updates about your background screening or payment.
Enrolling in Multiple Programs. If you enroll in multiple Checkr Programs, please be aware of the following:
- Other Checkr Programs. If you enroll in more than one Checkr Programs, unsubscribing from one program will not unsubscribe you from the others. For example, if you are enrolled in both the Checkr Pay Program and the Checkr Screening Program, unsubscribing from the Checkr Pay Program would not automatically unsubscribe you from the Checkr Screening Program. You would need to unsubscribe from each Checkr Program separately.
- Other Checkr Communications. If you enroll in a Checkr Program and any of other promotional email programs, unsubscribing from the Checkr Program will not unsubscribe you from the promotional email program. For example, if you enrolled on our Checkr Pay Program and our email newsletter, unsubscribing from the Checkr Pay Program would not automatically unsubscribe you from our email newsletter. You would need to unsubscribe from the Checkr Pay Program and the email newsletter separately.
Program Numbers. We might use different shortcodes or phone numbers for each Checkr Program. We may change the shortcode or phone number associated with a particular Checkr Program at any time. You acknowledge that we might not be able to process any messages, including any attempted cancellations, you send to a shortcode or number we have changed. As a result, those messages will not unenroll you from that particular Checkr Program.
Getting Help. You can get help regarding Checkr Programs in the following ways:
- Texting “HELP” to the text message you received; or
- Contacting us here.
Rates and Message Frequencies. Checkr does not charge for any of its Checkr Programs. But your wireless carrier might still impose its own message and data rates. If you have any questions about your text or data plan, please contact your wireless provider. The frequency of text alerts we send you will vary depending on the Checkr Program.
Interruption. You acknowledge that factors beyond Checkr’s or carriers’ control might affect message delivery. Such factors could include weather, network capacity, or your mobile phone’s distance from a transmission site. Checkr and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
