Introducing Checkr Expert Roundtables, A Community for HR Leaders
It’s quite an understatement to say the past few weeks have been challenging. We’re all adjusting to the new normal in our own ways, but for many companies, the question that’s top of mind for everyone is: “how do we move forward from here? How do we still manage to grow and hire during this unprecedented time?”
We’ve started having conversations with businesses across industries and have quickly realized that companies are in one of three buckets. The first segment consists of essential services, who need to scale quickly and hire hundreds of thousands of workers — all while managing around court closures. The second group includes the companies that are still hiring but may have slowed their growth to bring new people onboard. The last group, unfortunately, includes companies who have furloughed employees, faced layoffs, or implemented hiring freezes. Now more than ever, it’s important we all band together as a community and collaborate.
That’s why we’ve started our Expert Roundtable series, which aims to bring together different experts to speak to some of the challenges companies are facing today. Our first roundtable kicked off last week, with two internal Checkr experts. They discussed the steps essential businesses are taking to stay open, how to navigate furloughed employees, and next steps as the economy re-opens.
Here are a few key learnings from their conversation:
1. Don’t start from scratch. Keep your current candidate funnel warm, through outreach like emails, so when things pick back up again, you can easily re-engage them and start hiring.
2. Think outside of the box. Think about using staffing firms, post-COVID, in order to model multiple what-if scenarios and scale different parts of your business accordingly.
3. Transformation is key. Digital transformation is no longer a question—it’s a must have. The question is now how to get there as quickly as possible. Find the right partners who can keep you agile and set you up for success in any market condition, not just the ideal state.

In light of the rapidly changing policies, hiring challenges, and unrest, we are holding weekly Roundtables to keep an open discussion going. Register for the sessions and see other upcoming webinars here.
